Describe Yourself: Quality Oriented

This is a great value - I bought it so I could have the ability to watch TV on the laptop if the cable or power went out (especially due to bad weather). I had a fear that during severe weather season we would lose our cable connection and have no way to get the news/weather. This is a cheap way to solve that problem.
You should go to the website and download the latest version of the software and not even mess with the CD that comes with it.
Once you do that, installation is a breeze. I installed it on WIN XP PRO and VISTA ULTIMATE. It works through WIN TV (the included software) and WINDOWS MEDIA CENTER. I am using a 5 year old $10 RCA indoor antenna and I get 12 stations on the far eastern edge of Nashville, TN - it is amazing.
Any skips or stuttering is caused by a poor signal and just moving the antenna has corrected those issues for me.
The picture and features of the software are phenomenal for the price. Just follow all of the installation prompts and be patient when it scans channels for the first time and you will be good to go.
Thanks Radio Shack - best price I have seen on these and having this as an emergency setup could literally be a life-saver.

I found your blog the other day. I enjoy it very much. I have a question about this item. What kind of channels do you pick up? How good is the HD?
On the laptops I have installed this on, the picture is amazing - much better than my traditional 27" picture tube tv. The detail is what impresses me the most. I pick up all of the local Nashville stations - WSMV is weak and the antenna has to be pointed a certain way. While scanning channels, it registers stations in Bowling Green, KY (about 60 miles away) but the signal is too weak to convert the image. But, I am using a $10 antenna I bought at Big Lots several years ago. With an amplified or outside antenna, I'm sure it would pick those stations up also.
For what I need (basically an emergency backup in case cable or power goes out) and for some TV watching in the kitchen, it's perfect for me.
